Congratulations to the fresh students of the Rivers State University (RSU) community. The transition from secondary school education to the rigors of university life is a significant milestone, and the Directorate of Student Affairs is committed to ensuring you start this journey on the right foot.
We are pleased to announce the 2025/2026 Fresh Students’ Orientation Programme. This three-day event is designed to integrate new students into the academic, social, and cultural fabric of our institution.
Why Attendance is Mandatory
Orientation is more than just a formal welcome; it is your roadmap to success at RSU. During these sessions, you will be introduced to university regulations, CGPA calculations, library resources, and the various support services available to you. Returning students and the general public are also encouraged to participate as we foster a spirit of communal support for our "freshers."
Event Schedule and Venues
To ensure all students are reached, the program has been split across two different locations:
Day 1 & Day 2: Main Campus Events
- Dates: Monday, 19th January and Tuesday, 20th January 2026.
- Time: 9:00 AM Prompt.
- Venue: Convocation Arena, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt.
Day 3: Etche Campus Focus
- Date: Wednesday, 21st January 2026.
- Time: 10:00 AM Prompt.
- Venue: Etche Campus.
Key Highlights
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, and the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Bright C. Opara, will be present to address the students. You will receive first-hand information regarding:

3. Do I need to attend all three days? Students based at the main campus (Nkpolu-Oroworukwo) are required to attend the first two days at the Convocation Arena. The third day is specifically scheduled for students situated at the Etche Campus to ensure they receive the same level of guidance without the need for extensive travel.
4. What should I bring to the orientation? You should come with a notebook and a pen to take down important contact numbers and academic tips. It is also advisable to carry your provisional admission letter or school ID (if already issued) for identification purposes.
