Choosing the wrong subject combination is one of the most common reasons students are denied admission, even with a high score. JAMB is strict: if your subjects don't match the requirements for your course, your application will be automatically disqualified.
Below is the definitive list of subject combinations for 50 popular courses across all faculties for the 2026/2027 session.
Note: Use of English is compulsory for ALL candidates and is the first subject for every course listed below. You are only required to choose three (3) other subjects to make a total of four.

How to Use This List
- Check your school’s choice: While this list follows the general JAMB Brochure, some universities (like UNILAG or UI) might have specific variations. Always double-check the JAMB IBASS portal.
- O'Level Sync: Ensure you also have at least a credit pass in these same subjects in your WAEC/NECO results.
- English is non-negotiable: You don't "choose" English; it is automatically given to you by the system.
JAMB 2026: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Can I use my brother’s or sister’s phone number for my registration?
A: No. JAMB strictly requires a unique phone number for every candidate. This number is your "permanent identity" with the Board. Using a number previously used by someone else will cause a "Number Already Registered" error.
Q: What should I do if I sent my NIN but didn't receive a Profile Code?
A: First, ensure you have at least ₦50 airtime (data or bonus airtime doesn't work for this). If the issue persists, try the alternative shortcode 66019. If you still don't get a code, wait 24 hours or visit an Airtel/MTN/Glo office to ensure your SIM can send premium SMS.
Q: I made a mistake in my name on my NIN. Can I fix it after JAMB registration?
A: No. JAMB 2026 rules state that once you register with your NIN data, it cannot be changed. You must visit a NIMC office to correct your name, gender, or date of birth before you even generate your JAMB profile code.
Q: How much is the JAMB 2026 Reading Text?
A: The reading text (the novel) costs ₦1,000, which is already included in the total registration fee you pay at the bank or via e-PIN. You should collect your copy at the CBT centre after completing your registration.
Q: Can I register at a Cyber Cafe?
A: Absolutely not. Only JAMB-accredited CBT Centres are authorized to register candidates. Any registration done outside an official center is invalid and will lead to disqualification.
Q: Do I need my O'Level (WAEC/NECO) result to register?
A: You can register using "Awaiting Result" (AR). However, you must upload your results to the JAMB portal as soon as they are released to be eligible for admission.
Q: What is the age limit for 2026 admission?
A: You must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026. Candidates younger than this may be allowed to write the exam as a "trial" but will generally not be considered for regular admission unless they meet exceptional candidate criteria.
